CAMP

We Give You The Best Therapy

The CAMP will continually holding clinics, meetings, workshops and training programmes to promote mental health, prevent psycho-social distress and manage mental disorders in its selected communities. Over the last 2-3 years in India, the issue of mental health has received heightened awareness, media coverage and attention on digital platforms. But whenever we talk about mental health or mental illness, rarely a picture of rural women or men comes to our mind.

The rural parts of our country don’t even have access to proper healthcare or doctors especially for mental health. The acute lack of resources in rural India creates a situation where mentally ill patients remain either undetected or are improperly handled. National mental Health Survey (NMHS) – Kerala 2016 has shown that, high suicide risk, common mental disorders and substance related disorders are found to constitute most important threats to mental health of the population of Kerala and should become the priority in mental health care plans.

In our country the vast majority of people affected by mental illness live in low- and middle-income countries, most mental health care resources are located in high-income countries. The idea of CAMP is to break the stigma and make mental health services easily available in rural areas of Calicut and Malappuram Districts. A good mental health will help us to cope with the stresses of life, to maintain our physical health, have good relationship, make meaningful contributions to our community, our work productivity and also helps to realize our full potential. CAMP help rural people to improve their mental health through proper guidance.

“Suffering from depression or anxiety…?”

“Feeling emotionally unstable or out of control …? ”

“Suffering from feelings of emptiness or meaninglessness …?”

“Having difficulties with the personal or work relationships …?”

“Suffering from chronic illness or pain …? ”

“Suffering from long-term effects of childhood or spousal abuse …? ”

“Suffering from loss of loved ones…?”

In the current scenario of Malabar we must look with the intelligence of love and with wise realism at the reality of the family today, in all its complexity, and in its lights and shadows. Mental health issues has become common in our society. Mental disorders, such as depression and alcohol use problems, are major public health problems in India. Suicide is a major cause of death, especially in young adults and in rural areas. Mental health has for decades been low in the priority of health planners at state and central levels and this is well reflected in the quantity and quality of mental health services in India. CAMP view the human person as made in the image and likeness of God. We believe that a good model of mental health must necessarily include the spiritual aspect of the human person. The goal of therapy is to re-integrate man as a physical, rational, emotional, and spiritual being. CAMP activities have included treatment, rehabilitation, community care, research, training and capacity building, awareness and lobbying.

Neurotic and stress related disorders and Depression are common mental disorders in Kerala. These disorders are known to be related to the stress of everyday life including relationship problems, financial stressors, work related stressors etc. Strategies to address stress levels and enhancing coping skills have a major role in addressing these problems and also in population based preventive interventions. Mental health problems constitute a diverse set of diseases and conditions which require varied approaches to addressing different kinds of problems. People face huge issues with mental health, stigma remains a huge barrier to people receiving the care and attention they need. CAMP ensures the treatment, rehabilitation and community care and have the responsibility to give awareness to the people. CAMP activities also include research, training and capacity building. The treatment include psychotherapies from professional and also the assistance of medical care.
