The CAMP will continually holding clinics, meetings, workshops and training programmes to promote mental health, prevent psycho-social distress and manage mental disorders in its selected communities. Over the last 2-3 years in India, the issue of mental health has received heightened awareness, media coverage and attention on digital platforms. But whenever we talk about mental health or mental illness, rarely a picture of rural women or men comes to our mind.
The rural parts of our country don’t even have access to proper healthcare or doctors especially for mental health. The acute lack of resources in rural India creates a situation where mentally ill patients remain either undetected or are improperly handled. National mental Health Survey (NMHS) – Kerala 2016 has shown that, high suicide risk, common mental disorders and substance related disorders are found to constitute most important threats to mental health of the population of Kerala and should become the priority in mental health care plans.
In our country the vast majority of people affected by mental illness live in low- and middle-income countries, most mental health care resources are located in high-income countries. The idea of CAMP is to break the stigma and make mental health services easily available in rural areas of Calicut and Malappuram Districts. A good mental health will help us to cope with the stresses of life, to maintain our physical health, have good relationship, make meaningful contributions to our community, our work productivity and also helps to realize our full potential. CAMP help rural people to improve their mental health through proper guidance.

CAMP aims to assist people with mental illness and promote mental health through proper treatment. And also CAMP aims at promoting the development of psychological theory, research, and mental health practice that encompasses an understanding of the human person, family, and society which respects Catholic anthropology and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
